Glasgow to host Lloyds Tour of Britain Women finale in June

Glasgow will host the overall finish of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women this June, as Britain’s biggest professional women’s cycle race comes to Scotland for the first time.
The four-day race, part of the UCI Women’s WorldTour, will conclude with a full stage in Glasgow on Sunday 8 June, where the successor to 2024 champion Lotte Kopecky will be crowned.
Bailie Annette Christie, Chair of Glasgow Life and Glasgow City Council Convenor for Culture, Sport and International Relations, said: “Glasgow is one of the world’s top sporting cities and Scotland’s only UCI Bike City, so it is the perfect place to host the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women. Our city staged the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships to great acclaim and the finale of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women promises to produce many more spectacular moments, with the UK’s best female cyclists competing in front of a passionate home crowd as the event comes to Scotland for the first time. The event will be the latest in a long line of high-profile, exhilarating sporting contests to take place in Glasgow and there is much to look forward to, with the 2026 Commonwealth Games set to bring 3,000 of the world’s best athletes to our city next summer.”
Stage four will start and finish from Glasgow Green, using ten laps of an 8.4-kilometre (5.3 miles) circuit through the city centre, with organisers and stakeholders working together to create a packed day of cycling themed events and activities, including the chance for people and families to celebrate the final stage and ride some of the same roads as the professionals on a closed road city centre circuit after the race on Sunday 8 June.
Handsling Alba Development Road Team rider and double Olympic medallist Neah Evans said of the race finale in Glasgow: “It is really exciting that the Lloyds Tour of Britain is coming to Glasgow. I know the streets very well from my university days here. I started my cycling journey after a taster session at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, so Glasgow is a special place to me for that.
“It’s fantastic that the most prestigious women’s road event in Britain is going to race around the city and hopefully inspire future generations to the sport.”
Full details of the route for the Glasgow stage and the supporting activities will be announced in the coming weeks, along with details of the preceding stage (Saturday 7 June), that will take place in the Scottish Borders, starting and finishing in Kelso.
Rob Dickson, Director of Industry and Events at VisitScotland, said: “From scenic road routes to world-class mountain biking trails, Scotland is a must-visit destination for cyclists of all levels. As a world-leading tourism and events destination, we are thrilled to be welcoming the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women 2025 to Scotland for the first time.
“The Scottish Borders and Glasgow will provide the perfect stage for the final two stages of the race. Starting and finishing in Kelso’s historic Town Square, the penultimate leg of the race will take in some of the most scenic landscapes of the Scottish Borders as it travels through Eildon Hills, Melrose, Denholm, and Jedburgh, while the final stage in Glasgow will showcase the striking architecture of Scotland’s largest city.”
Scottish Cycling Chief Executive Officer Nick Rennie added: “It is long overdue that the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women will visit Scotland, so I’m delighted we have two stages north of the border in 2025. As we saw last year with the men’s race, Kelso knows how to stage a bike race, with brilliant crowds and a true sporting course. Similarly, a final stage in Glasgow will bring back memories of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, and once again expose the people of Scotland to world class bike racing.
“In 2024 we launched a Women & Girls Strategy, aimed at shifting the dial in female participation in cycling, and I hope this event, and the wrap around activations that will come with it, will encourage more women to get back on their bikes, or give cycling a go for the first time.”
Commenting on the announcement, Jonathan Day, Managing Director of British Cycling Events, said: "We are excited to once again be breaking new ground with the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women with four completely new stages for the race, and taking the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women to Scotland for the first time and two exciting stages. We know what a great town Kelso is to host a combined start and finish in its picturesque market square, and that the Scottish Borders roads make for great racing, while being able to finish the race overall in the heart of a major city like Glasgow will be a great way to round out this year’s Tour.
“We are delighted to be bringing some of the world’s best teams and riders to our communities this June as a part of the UCI Women's WorldTour and to showcase the very best of their character and terrain on what will be four challenging stages.
"On behalf of British Cycling Events, I would like to pay thanks to our partners across the four stages for supporting the hosting and delivery of this summer's race and enabling us to bring another memorable and action packed four days of world class racing to their communities, spreading the joy of cycling along the route and inspiring more people to get on a bike and live healthier lives.”
Further announcements, including the detailed routes for each of the four stages and the participating teams for the 2025 Lloyds Tour of Britain Women, will be announced in the coming weeks.
