Our Cafe is open Monday to Saturday 9am to 4.15pm.
Whether you are popping in to pick up books, browsing the archives or catching up with friends, The Mitchell Café is the perfect pit stop.
The menu includes snacks, light meals and sandwiches, as well as hot and cold drinks. Gluten-free dishes and soya milk are available. The café is fully licensed, meaning you can order a glass of wine or a beer.
The Mitchell Café sits at the heart of an open space with free Wi-Fi, computers, study booths, displays, and exhibitions.
Our welcoming and helpful team at the nearby Information Desk can help out with any enquiries, such as directions around the library, details of events and activities or how to access the collections.

Borrow Cup Scheme
As part of our commitment to reducing our use of disposable drinks cups, the Mitchell Café is now participating in the Borrow Cup scheme. For a £1 deposit, customers are served their drinks in a reusable Borrow Cup, this cup can then be returned to the café or another participating venue where the £1 deposit will be returned.
