Prepare for an evening with one of England’s most revered folk performers, Martin Simpson, widely acknowledged as one of the finest acoustic and slide guitar players in the world.

Simpson’s solo shows are intense, eclectic, and deeply moving. His interpretations of traditional songs are celebrated as masterpieces of storytelling, conveying passion, sorrow, love, and tragedy with rare subtlety and honesty. Though a virtuoso player without question, he delivers his diverse material straight from the heart.

The performance will feature material spanning his prolific career, including his latest solo album, Skydancers (released April 2024 on Topic Records), which includes both live and studio recordings. His collaborative work, such as last year’s critically acclaimed album with Thomm Jutz, further showcases his mastery. Nominated an astounding 32 times in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Martin Simpson is a true master of his art.

An official partner of Taylor Guitars, Liam Docherty, is one of the most exciting young acoustic guitarists of his generation, blending folk, blues, and Celtic traditions. Winner of a Danny Kyle Award at Celtic Connections 2025, Liam draws inspiration from Robert Johnson, Nick Drake and Tommy Emmanuel. Expect a performance fusing technical brilliance with soulful storytelling, transporting audiences from the Mississippi Delta to the Scottish Highlands with intricate guitar work and heartfelt original songs.
