Gillian Welch and David Rawlings are pillars of the modern acoustic music world with rich and remarkable careers that have span for over twenty-five years.
Welch & Rawlings are coming to Glasgow as part of a long-awaited tour of the UK and Ireland. The tour follows the release of their lauded new record Woodland (Acony), which scooped the 2025 Grammy Award for Best Folk album and graced many Best of the Year lists.
Welch & Rawlings, whom the New York Times has hailed as “American folk masters,” are widely recognised as leading exponents of their genre, with every new release a notable event. Woodland (2024) is their 10th studio album and was named for, as well as recorded at, their own Woodland Sound Studios in Nashville, which they rebuilt following the devastation of the 2020 tornado. The new 10-song collection mingles full band tracks with intricate duet performances all tied together with the duo’s signature sound and lyricism.
Alongside the Best Folk Album Grammy in 2025 (their third Grammy), the duo won International Album of the Year and International Single of the Year for Woodland and its lead single “Empty Trainload Of Sky” at the 2025 UK Americana Awards. On its release, Woodland was greeted with widespread praise, from The Observer to The Sun, The Times to The Mirror, and triumphed in the UK music press, including Albums of the Year in Uncut (#2), Mojo (#4, #1 in Americana), Songlines (#1, Americas) and Classic Rock.

Restoration fund

Hearing loop
The stalls of the Main Hall and New Hall are equipped with induction loop systems, but operation is dependent on each individual event or performance, so provision can vary. Wheelchair access
Wheelchair access is from the Killermont Street entrance (North Entrance) only. From this entrance, there is Lift access to all levels.

Please note wheelchairs for events are used for transfer only to your seat.

Cafe or restaurant
Full table service is not available, food or drinks are ordered from the service counter. However, food and drinks can be brought to the table.
There is not a lowered section at the counter.
No tables are permanently fixed. No chairs are permanently fixed. Some chairs have armrests.
Drinking straws are available.
Menus are hand held and wall mounted. Menus are not available in Braille. Menus are not available in large print. Picture menus are not available.

At times, Glasgow Life will be on the premises to film and take photos.
The public are only permitted to record and take photos where explicit permission has been granted in advance.
Free wifi
Yes, there is free public Wifi access. To connect, visitors have to register with the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall Public Wifi which should pop up on their browser. After that visitors will only need their password for future uses.
